Some days, the best thing you can do with your team is close the laptop and pick up a paintbrush instead. And that’s exactly what the Keplin team did recently, heading to Art Play in Liverpool Street for an afternoon of “Sip & Paint”. The idea was as simple as it was grandiose: recreate Van Gogh's iconic “Starry Night”.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was relaxed, creative and genuinely fun. The Design team set an early standard with swirling skies, considered brushwork, a confident handling of the famous deep blues, while for many of us, the approach was a touch more experimental or abstract, you might say. Van Gogh himself might not have recognised every interpretation on show, but there was no shortage of effort or good spirits.
What struck us most was how quickly everyone settled into it. There is something about working with your hands, away from screens and schedules, that brings a different side of people to the fore. Conversations blossomed in a way they rarely do during a busy working week and by the end of the session, the room was filled with 20-odd versions of Starry Night, each one entirely unique.
At Keplin, we believe a strong team is built on more than good work. It is built on shared experiences and making space to bond as people rather than just colleagues. Afternoons like this one are a reminder of that.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and threw themselves into it. Here is to the next one.
